1. Only one promotional video per UNESCO Club/Organization is allowed to join an entry.

3. Each entry should not be less than 2 minutes and not be more than 3 minutes.

Criteria:

1. Content - 40%

• include your purpose, background, current state of knowledge about the annual convention, how it will be done and the potential impact 

2. Effectiveness - 30%

• successful communication, information is accessible to a broad audience, key concepts are clearly communicated, and innovative and creative use of video format 

3. Quality - 30%

• time constraints are met and effectively used, visuals are clear, effective, and appropriate for the topic, text, music, and narration is clear and appropriate for video 

1. The Poster Making Contest is open to all participants of Y4U 2024; one representative per club or organization only. 

2. All interested applicants must submit a pre-registration form which is available on the UNESCO FB page. 

3. The poster must illustrate, interpret, and emphasize the theme of the 2024 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) “Empowering Communities through UNESCO Initiatives: Advancing Science and Technology, Culture, Creativity and Lifelong Learning.” 

4. The size of the poster should be ¼ illustration board. 

5. All needed materials must be provided by the participants during the contest day such as: ¼ Illustration board (white background), scratch paper, pen, marker, pencil, oil paints, watercolor, crayons, coloring pens, oil pastel/craypas, acrylic, and others. 

6. Each participant should submit ONE entry only.

7. All artwork must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted time of two (2) hours. 

8. All entries must be pre-numbered. No other identifying marks will be allowed to appear in the artwork. 

9. The posters will be judged according to the following criteria:

10. The artist will be held accountable to any issues that may arise with regards to the originality and authenticity of the design. 

1. The Essay Writing Competition is open to all Y4U registered delegates; one representative per club or organization only. 

2. All interested applicants must submit a pre-registration form which is available on the UNESCO page. 

3. Participants will be categorized and judged according to level (High School and College- level)  

4. A question related to the theme shall be asked to serve as the main topic which the participants shall write about. The question shall be given during the contest proper; the essay must elaborate, interpret, and emphasize the theme of the 2024 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U). 

5. All entries must be written in English must have at least 500 words and must not exceed2000 words  

6. All essays must be done on the spot and must be completed within the allotted time of one hour and thirty minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes). 

7. All entries will be judged based on content, originality, structure, and style. 

All entries shall be judged based on the following criteria: ·

1. Each participating UNESCO Club/Organization will send ONE TEAM composed of TWO (2) members to join the contest. 

2. There will be three stages (Easy, Average, and Difficult). 

3. Each category per level will have 10 questions, scored differently (Easy level – 1 point per answered question, Average level – 3 points per answered question, and Difficult level – 5 points per answered question). 

4. The questions will revolve around the general knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UNESCO World Heritage Sites, etc. 

5. The questions shall be read twice by the Quizmaster. After the second reading, the Quizmaster will give a cue to write the answer.

6. When the quizmaster signals that time is up, the participants should stop writing and show their answers. 

7. There are facilitators assigned to check the answers of the teams. 

8. After finishing the AVERAGE level, only five (5) teams who got the highest score will proceed to the DIFFICULT level. 

9. In case of a tie, a CLINCHER ROUND will commence.

10. The team who got the highest score after the difficult level will be declared the winner.

3. The spoken word poetry piece must be an original composition. 

4. It should be delivered in English language only. 

5. The piece must be related to the theme and must not contain any malicious or offensive content. 

6. Sounds, instrumental, or music background is allowed to complement the delivery. No deduction shall be made if the contestant opts not to have a musical background. 

7. Each participant is only allowed to prepare for their performance thirty (30) minutes before the contest.

9. Each performance must only be three-five (3-5) minutes. 

10. All entries shall be presented on the day of the competition. Three (3) winners will receive tokens and certificates. 

Your task is to translate the information from your research paper or project into an engaging, succinct 15- minute oral presentation (5 additional minutes may be used to address audience questions).  Your presentation will be evaluated according to both the quality of the content and the presentation style.  Please review the Oral Presentation Judging Form to see the judging criteria.

What Should I Include With My Presentation?

This will depend on the kind of research project you conducted. In general, your presentation should include the following information:

1. An introduction to explain the purpose of your work, i.e., research question, thesis.

2. An explanation of why your question or problem is important.

3. A description of your methods of gathering information and your analysis of this information (the ways in which you attempted to answer the question, or examine or solve the problem).

4. The results of your research and your conclusion.

Focus on the essential information required to help the audience understand what you learned, how you learned it, and why it was important to learn. If you use media or visual aids, please make sure that the necessary technology will be provided. Seek advice from your faculty mentor to assist you in making specific decisions about what to include or exclude.

Criteria You Will Be Judged Upon:

Each exhibit will be given a score from 10 (excellent) to 0 (poor) based on ten different criteria.  More specifically, 10 - 9 = Excellent, 8 - 7 = Very Good, 6 - 5 = Average, 4 - 3 = Inadequate, and 2 - 0 = Poor.  Each judging form will include the project number, the name of the judge, the individual score for each criterion, the total points awarded (out of 100), and a space for comments (one for each criterion) to be shared with the student(s).

Note that if a required component (criterion) is missing, a 0 will be given for that component of the project

How Should I Organize My Presentation?

1. INTRODUCTION: This should accomplish two functions:

1. First, interest your audience in your project by identifying your research question and establishing the importance of your research.

2. Second, preview the main points of your presentation to prepare the audience to hear and remember your speech.

2. BODY: The main body of your presentation will comprise most of your speech. It should have clearly identifiable, well-connected points that develop out of your paper.  The kind of main points will depend upon the kind of research conducted in your paper, i.e., quantitative or qualitative, or descriptive. Quantitative research requires data collected through an experiment or survey. Qualitative or descriptive research involves an examination or development of an idea or theory, an analysis of a problem, or the creation of a work of art, music, literature, or poetry.

3. CONCLUSION: Should also accomplish two functions:

1. Summarize your main points.

2. End with a powerful line that reinforces the importance of your research.

4. TRANSITIONS: In addition to the basic structure (introduction, body, and conclusion, you can improve the organization of your presentation by using transitions from one section to the next and from one main point to the next. Transitions provide clear guides to your audience as they listen to you.

How Should I Deliver My Presentation? 

Keep in mind that your research is what matters most. While effective delivery can enhance a strong research project, good delivery cannot improve weak research!

Dress professionally and strive to deliver your presentation extemporaneously. That means do not read from your paper and also do not memorize your presentation. Instead, work at internalizing it by planning, preparing and practicing. Know your material so well that you can speak with authority about it without having to read sentences or memorize specific words.  You are welcome to use note cards to help guide you during your presentation by citing a few keywords and phrases rather than full sentences.

Delivery Tips: 

1. Practice your presentation several times (at least 10 times, even 20)

2. Practice it out loud.

3. Practice it in front of your faculty mentor.

4. Practice it in front of a mirror.

5. Practice in front of friends, family members, your pets, anyone who will listen.

6. If you have visual aids, practice your speech using them.

7. Time your speech when you practice to ensure it fits the 15-minute time limit.

Lastly, what matters most is your research, what you have learned, how you learned it, and why it was important to learn. The emphasis is on your research – not on you.

Y4U ON-THE-SPOT PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

THEME: "Palawan: The Best Island in the World!

PARTICIPANTS: The contest is OPEN to all registered participants of Y4U2024 (15-30 years old)

Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of ONE (1) entry only.

 The entry to be submitted should be in a JPEG or PNG format with a corresponding “photo title” and “photo caption” and the Name of the Photographer, Age, Address, Portrait Photo, and Mobile Phone used. 

The caption must indicate the place where the image was taken and must have an accurate description of what the photo is about. All entries must be sent to youth4unesco2020@gmail.com with the SUBJECT: PHOTO CONTEST. Wait for the Admin’s reply for the Confirmation of Entry

Deadline of Submission: November 30, 2024 (7:00 pm)

Photographs SHOULD be:

• Created and taken by the contest participant during the Cultural and Heritage Tour of Puerto Princesa City/ Underground River/Honda Bay on November 30, 2024, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm. 

• Created and taken using mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

• In full color. Color Correcting is allowed.

•  In LANDSCAPE orientation.

• Taken using the best settings of the mobile device.

Photographs SHOULD NOT:

• Contain watermarks or any identifying mark.

• Violate a person’s rights, including, but not limited to copyrights and privacy.

• Previously submitted or won in any photography contest.

• Contain images of elected government officials.

• Edited and Manipulated.

UNESCO Club Ambassadors and Ambassadress Guidelines and Mechanics

A. Over-all Guidelines

1. The candidates must be registered participants of the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO for 2024.

2. Each organization or UNESCO Club must only have one male and one female representative for the pageant. If the organization has only a female candidate, they can look for male candidates to partner with in the region and vice-versa.

3. The contestants, upon the endorsement of their respective schools must fill-in the official entry form on the date specified by the organizers.

4. The organizing committee has the right to call the attention of the candidates in cases of any untoward behavior that would cause disturbance of the scheduled activity.

5. Prior to the pageant day (November 30, 2022, at 6:00 pm), and there will be a meeting and rehearsal on November 29, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Lobby 2 of the Citystate Asturias Hotel Palawan. 

6. Candidates should have no records of minor and major offenses in their respective schools.

7. Points breakdown for each portion of the pageant will be as follows:

1. The Talent and Filipinana/Barong competition shall be held on the pageant day. The presentation of the talent and casual shall heed the following guidelines:

• The presentation is in a pair form, but they can have backup dancer’s if they want

• This portion is limited to a maximum of two to three minutes per contestant.

• Contestants are not able to wear and to use harmful props/materials which can harm them and other people. They can wear whatever they feel comfortable in performing their talent.

1. The presentation of the Filipiniana and Barong wear shall heed the following guidelines:

• Contestants will wear their Filipiniana and Barong right after the Q and A portion.

• Delegates must be able to project their own personal sense of style.

• The value of the outfit should complement the contestant’s individuality.

• Modeling should be simple and not overly complicated. Turns and ‘poses’ are fine, but no “Pro-am” modeling.

2. Points Breakdown for the Talent Portion will be as follows:

i. Attention given to contestant’s ability to walk to the beat of the music, modeling turns

Program Proper

1. The final pageant shall be divided into four parts:

2. Two elimination process will happen, first in choosing magic 10 the first ten highest score in the Talent competition will move to the second phase which is the Question-and-Answer portion. After the Q and A, the organize will choose the top 5 and will move to the Filipiniana and Barong competition.

3. The judges must not be in anyway related to any of the candidates.

4. The judges’ decision shall be made public only on the final pageant.

5. The candidate and/or her sponsor shall provide/take care of

· Shoes or sandals and accessories to be used during the pageant;

· Costume and props for talent presentation;

6. Major and Minor Awards shall be given on the following aspects for both male and female category:

• Best in Filipiniana and Barong

• Best in Talent

• Darling of the Crowd

• 2nd Runner up

• 1st Runner up

• UNESCO Club Ambassador and Ambassadress from 2022
